Cordella Bart-Stewart was admitted as a solicitor in 1987. She opened her own practice in North London in 1990 and now specialises in family and immigration law. She has a strong interest in - and is a regular speaker on - equality and human rights.
Throughout her career she has been an advisor to numerous professional and community groups. She is a founder member and executive director/CEO of the Black Solicitors Network. Since 2000, she has been a fee paid immigration judge of the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal.
She is a member of the expert panel of the Judicial College on Equality & Diversity, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Companions Assessment Panel.
In July 2009 she was awarded an honorary doctorate by Staffordshire University. She is a graduate and an independent governor of the University.
