David Gage MBE DL (Chair of the Board of Governors and Pro Chancellor) is a former Building Society Chair and Corporate Banking Director.
David joined the Board of Governors in 2009 and took up the Chair’s role in 2015 having been Deputy Chair since 2011. He was awarded an MBE in 2016 for services to business and education in Staffordshire.
As a career banker, David served in the London Head Office of NatWest Bank PLC and various regional offices, which included time as a Regional Head of Lending, and subsequently as a Corporate Banking Director until his early retirement in 2000. He is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers.
David is Chair of Lichfield City Centre Development Partnership Board and a member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Leadership, Governance and Management Strategic Advisory Committee as well as HEFCE’s Financial Sustainability and Strategy Group. He is a member of Lichfield Cathedral Council and Lichfield Cathedral Investment Committee.
David sings with the Market Drayton Choral Society and enjoys horse racing, hill walking, reading political and historical works, supporting Leicester Tigers rugby and Norwich City football club.
David is a Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire.
