Chancellors

The honorary position of Chancellor was created when we gained university status in 1992.

The role of Chancellor of Staffordshire University is representative, ceremonial and ambassadorial. The position has no formal powers or responsibilities when it comes to the governance and management of the University.

The Chancellor presides over meetings of the Chancellor’s Forum and other meetings, receptions, functions and events taking place at or involving the University as appropriate. This includes the presentation of degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic awards.

Our current Chancellor is The Lord Stafford DL FRAgS, who was inaugurated during the University's centenary celebrations in July 2014.

Pro Chancellors

In addition to the role of Chancellor, the University currently has four Pro Chancellors: Andrew Triggs Hodge, David Gage, Steve Burgin and Dr Parmjit Singh.

The Pro Chancellor role is also representative, ceremonial and ambassadorial. The position has no formal powers or responsibilities in the governance or management of the University.

Our Pro Chancellors preside over meetings of the Chancellor’s Forum and other meetings, receptions, functions and events taking place at or involving the University as appropriate. This includes the presentation of degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic awards.
