The Revised IiP Standard
Principles of IiP
Under the revised IiP Standard there are now 3 principles instead of 4. These are:
- Planning
Planning how individuals and teams are to be developed to achieve the strategic goals of the organisation

Taking action to develop and use necessary skills in a well defined and continuing programme directly tied to organisational objectives - Evaluation
Evaluating on a continual basis the qualititive and quantitative outcomes of training and development for individuals’ progress towards goals, the value achieved and future needs
There are 10 performance indicators and 39 evidence requirements all of which must be met.

Emphasis of the IiP Standard
The Revised Standard places new emphasis on three main areas:
- The quality of top and line management
e.g. Performance Indicator 4 (1) (2) (3), Performance Indicator 5 (1) (2) (3) (4) - Ownership and responsibility empowerment on the part of staff
e.g. Performance Indicators 6 and 7 - Evaluation
e.g. Performance Indicators 9 and 10 – much more emphasis quantification of improvement as a result of learning & development initiatives (9) and continual improvement as a result of evaluation (10).
