Staffordshire University Honorary Doctor, Lee Pearson CBE, is a force to be reckoned with. Winner of nine Paralympic games dressage gold medals, five World Championship and six European titles, it is his many accomplishments that make him a beloved national figure, not because he happens to be disabled.
As a child, Lee defied doctors and teachers who said he would never have a ‘normal’ life, ignoring what they called his limitations to find a way around most problems. After watching the 1996 Paralympics he discovered the possibility of turning his passion for horse riding into a full time sporting career.
He is now the winner of Gold Medals from Beijing, Athens and Sydney Paralympics Games, plus a notable victory in an ablebodied national championship event at Hickstead, working in partnership with the mighty Blue Circle Boy, affectionately known as Gus.
In this lecture, Lee will tell his inspirational story of highs and lows and his ultimate success, before taking part in an in depth Q&A session with the audience.
If you would like to attend the lecture, please respond by Monday 12 October to:
