Lecturer celebrates another 'big day'

Staffordshire University sports journalism lecturer Peter Brookes couldn’t have written a more perfect ending to his own study experience.
Peter, from Stourton, graduated with his PGCHE teaching qualification in the same ceremony as his wife Jenny graduated with her Masters degree in Education.
He said: “We suspected we might be graduating on the time but never dreamt it would be the same ceremony on the same day.”
Jenny, who works for Dudley autism outreach service, added: “It’s a big reason to celebrate. It was hard work as we’ve full time jobs, children and a family but it has been worth it and will increase our opportunities in the future.”
Peter, a Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Arts, Media and Design, added: “It’s now a requirement that practitioners take a teaching qualification and it’s something I agree with. We, as experts in our field, patently need to know how to teach as well.”
The couple were joined for Staffordshire University Awards ceremony at Trentham by daughters Charlotte and Jessica and other family members.
