THE DIRECTOR of business directors is set to give a talk at Staffordshire University.
Director General of the Institute of Directors (IoD), Miles Templeman is visiting the University’s Business School as part of a series of events called Be Inspired.
His talk, entitled Business Relationships and Education, will focus on the value of qualifications, the advantages of partnerships between universities and the business community, and Staffordshire University’s own practices in this area.
Professor Susan Foreman, Dean of the Business School at Staffordshire University, said: “The Business School at Staffordshire University is delighted to welcome Director General of the Institute of Directors, Miles Templeton, to speak at our fifth ‘Be Inspired’ event.
“Miles will be presenting his views on the potential benefits universities and businesses can achieve through collaborative working.”
Miles’ career has included work as a marketing specialist with major consumer brands Daz, Ribena and Lucozade, before he became Marketing Director at Levis jeans.
He then moved into general management at Threshers and later Managing Director of the Whitbread Beer Company, having success with brands such as Boddingtons and Stella Artois. He was also Chief Executive of Bulmers before it was sold to Scottish and Newcastle.
Miles’ non-executive and consultancy roles have included with Royal Mail, Ben Sherman, Accenture and YO! Sushi!
He became Director General of the IoD in 2004 and is currently a non-Executive Chairman of Shepherd Neame and a board member of Young Enterprise, Enterprise Insight, The European Confederation of Directors’ Associations (ecoDa), and Melrose PLC.
