What is the Children's University™?

The Children's University™ is a national organisation which offers children aged between 7-14 years, an exciting programme of high quality learning opportunities outside school hours.  It focuses on rewarding activity with others which makes learning fun.

Where is the Stoke Children’s University™?

The Children’s University™ is running all around the city at different venues.  Look out for the Children’s University learning destination stickers which mean that certain activities have been validated by the Children’s University™.

The main office of the Stoke Children’s University™ is based at Staffordshire University.

Who is the Children's University™ for?

The Children's University™ is for children of all abilities in Key Stages 2 & 3.

Why should I join?

Children are encouraged to work towards national certificates, based on their attendance at activities which have been validated by the Stoke Children's University™.

To gain a Bronze certificate, you need to be awarded 30 activity credits. For a Silver certificate you need to achieve 65 and for a Gold certificate a 100.

How do I join the Children’s University™?

No need to join.  Just download your Bronze level passport and start collecting activity credits.

What sort of activities can I do?

You can take part in lots of different activities from sports and dance to drama and art.  Look at the Activities page of this website.

From next September look out to see whether your school is running Children’s University™ activities and collect credits there too.

How do I collect activity credits?

Look for the Children’s University™ Learning Destination stickers.  Venues which display these stickers will be able to award activity credits if you take part in the Children’s University™ activities.  The credits are collected on the Stoke Children’s University™ passport.  Learning destinations can be found on the Activities page.

How do I get a passport?

You can download a bronze passport from this website.  Print your passport on to thin card and keep it safe.  If you lose your passport you’ll lose the activity credits you have been awarded.

What happens if I lose my passport?

You will have lost the record of your activities and will have to begin collecting all over again.  Keep your passport safe!

What happens when my passport is full?

Once you have collected 30 activity stamps from validated learning destinations you can attend a graduation ceremony at Staffordshire University.

If you attend a Stoke-on-Trent school, you can hand your passport to your teacher and your school will contact us.

If you live outside of Stoke-on-Trent, send your passport to the Stoke Children’s University™. 

How can providers of out of school activities get involved?

Contact the Children’s University and ask whether you can undergo validation for the the out of school hours activities you provide.
