Creating Quality Environments

During the summer and winter of 2009-2010, Staffordshire University supported a team of local residents and workers in carrying out a consultation project called Quality Streets.
A community research team collected the views of residents in the neighbourhood surrounding Hanley Park to find out what people liked and didn’t like about living and working in the area. An action plan was then developed for targeted change to improve the living environment.
The Quality Streets project was funded by Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Safer City Partnership, Renew North Staffs and Staffordshire Police.
Having these partners on board meant that information gathered went straight to the organisations who could take action to implement change.
The Quality Streets project is already showing how communities can be empowered to transform their neighbourhood through robust, locally focused consultation.
