Turnitin – online Plagiarism Checking Service
What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is a UK based online service used by educators to identify elements of plagiarism within student work. The service enables lecturers to submit student assignments to Turnitin where they are checked against Turnitin’s database of resources including books, articles, internet sites and previously submitted student papers, for originality and plagiarism. Lecturers receive an online Originality Report for each submission highlighting areas of concern.

Staff - How to use Turnitin
As a member of staff at the University you will be able to access Turnitin services via one of two methods:
Blackboard
Using the Turnitin Building Block in Blackboard you can create an assignment for your students which can be checked through Turnitin services for elements of plagiarism. The advantage of using Turnitin through Blackboard ensures that students are already incorporated into classes and separate student Turnitin accounts do not have to be created.Turnitin Online
As a member of staff you can register as an Instructor at Turnitin online and use the service via the web. To use this service you will need to register yourself as an instructor and create accounts for your students to enable them to send assignments to you for checking via Turnitin services.
