Opening Times for IT Facilities and Libraries

Want to study on campus at a time that suits you? Our libraries and IT facilties have extended opening times to help you do this.

Thompson Library, Stoke and Nelson Library, Stafford for example are open 24/7 please see below for full details for each location. Remember you must bring your student card with you if you wish to use the buildings during non-staffed times and you will need to sign in and sign out.

We are proud to say that we have been able to fulfill our promise of 24 hour opening throughout the year at our Thompson and Nelson libraries since 2009!!!  We have only evacuated the buildings for fire alarms!

Self Service Opening Hours

The times when the buildings are open but the Enquiry Desks are not staffed are referred to as Self Service or Out of Hours Opening.  The buildings are supervised by security guards and access is restricted to:

  • Current Staffordshire University Staff

  • Current University Students and Alumni

  • NHS users who have a valid Library Card and an Out of Hours Access Pass
