Off campus

What University services can I access away from the university?

We offer a range of services to our off campus users - it may be you are a part time student, a distance learner, a member of staff working from home or if you have difficulty visiting us in person.

Accessing your e-mail and H: drive

You can use Outlook web access to access your e-mail or even use your mobile phone.

You can also use MyPortal to access email, your H: drive and other services off campus.

MyPortal can be accessed at the following address myportal.staffs.ac.uk .  Type this into the browser address barand you will be taken to a login page. Log in with the same username and password that you use to log in to the university PCs.

There is also our VPN (Virtual Private network) service which enables staff and students to create a secure connection to the University Network and gain access to resources off campus.

InfoZone

Infozone is a good starting point for new students to find out more about our library and IT resources, so take a look. Also don't forget to look at our RefZone pages too!  These provide all the information you should need to help you reference your assignments correctly.

eResources

Our eresource collections offer a wide range of information held in searchable online databases. Just enter your usual University username and password when prompted to do so for access off-campus.

Search the library catalogue and check your library account

You can check the library catalogue and view your library account. You can also renew your items and reserve them from home.

Postal loans

For Distance Learners and other Staffordshire University students who based in the UK but who can't easily visit one of our site Libraries, we offer a Postal Loans service.

Through this service, you can request to have 4 books at any one time posted to you. We cannot however post the following types of items: Theses and dissertations, reference books, Journals, newspapers and other Serials, Short Loan Items, videos, DVDs, CDs or audio cassettes.

Books will be posted to you free of charge, but it is your responsibility to ensure their safe return and to pay the postage costs.

Please see how to request / reserve  items on the catalogue.

How long will my request take to come?
We aim to deal with requests for items stocked by the Library promptly, and most requests are normally satisfied within seven days of making your request.

However, please bear in mind that items may be on loan to someone else or 'missing'.  Items requested to be delivered by post also rely on postal services to be working normally.

If there are any problems or delays with your request, you will be notified with an explanation as soon as possible.

Overseas students

Unfortunately we cannot post books to students who are overseas, however we may be able to supply you with photocopies of the items which you need, please contact us for more information.
