The Instititute for Access Studies is involved in a range of research initiatives, including the evaluation of initiatives funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, Further Education Funding Council, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, LSDA, Single Regeneration Budget and Staffordshire LEA. Staff are involved in academic research based on theorising empirical research and policy. This is encouraged through postgraduate research, the preparation of journal articles and conference presentations. Link to the research pages of the Institute for Education Policy Research (IEPR) Postgraduate Scholarly Research Opportunities As part of our brief to promote scholarly research, we offer and support postgraduate research opportunities, leading either an MPhil or a PhD qualification. We provide postgraduate research students academic, practical and some financial support. Each student is supported by at least two academic supervisors who have a current and active interest in their field of research. Research methods training is provided. Students are encouraged and assisted to write articles, present conference papers and participate in related research projects. This enables them to involve themselves fully in a vibrant research community. Practical support is offered through the Institute for Access Studies. This includes access to materials, computing facilities and office space. Limited financial support is available in the form of scholarships and remission of fees. | |||||||||
