Evaluation of the Lincolnshire and Rutland Aimhigher programme

The IAS is currently undertaking evaluation research with the Aimhigher: Partnerships for Progression, Lincolnshire and Rutland. The purpose of the evaluation is two-fold: it will explore the operation of the scheme, and offer suggestions for improving its implementation and effectiveness. In addition there will be a summative element, which will examine the extent to which the initiative is meeting its own objectives and how it compares to other sub-regional programmes.

As part of the evaluation, case studies are being carried out involving FECs, pupil referral units and secondary schools within the area. Case studies will involve a range of stakeholders, including pupils, teachers, parents, and representatives from the programme.

The research is due to be completed in August 2006.

Comparative research project with young people in Lincolnshire and Stoke on Trent

This is a small research project undertaken with project workers on the Aimhigher programme in Lincolnshire and Rutland. Young people who have chosen to leave full time education are being interviewed to discuss the way in which they have chosen their post-16 progression routes. The impact of the area in which they live upon their decision-making is also being explored.
