Careers Centre Resources and Locations
Staffordshire University has two Careers Centres - one on the Stoke Campus and one at Stafford - both fully stocked with resources for you to come in and use. Our friendly Information Team are there, too, and will be happy to show you around and guide you to the best resources for you to use.
Electronic Resources
We have two dedicated student PCs in each Careers Centre, which you can use for:
Internet access for jobsearch and CV writing
Prospects Planner - an interactive package for graduates who don't know what they want to do. Work your way through the questions and the software will generate a list of careers you might be suited to.
Adult Directions - the same as Prospects Planner, but not just for graduates. The suggested careers won't necessarily be graduate level, so if you're thinking of a more vocational career this software might be more useful.
Funder Finder - if you're thinking of further study, you might want to search the Funder Finder database for funding.
Information on Types of Jobs
We have information in our Careers Centre on hundreds of graduate careers, so that you can find out more about them. The information will tell you where to find jobs, how to find out more, what salary you might earn, further training, and loads more . . .
Guidance Information
We have information in our Careers Centre to help you:
write a CV
fill in application forms
prepare for interviews, assessment centres and psychometric tests
plan your career
research further study
research working and studying abroad
investigate voluntary work
look at being self employed
and more . . . !
Books
We have an extensive collection of books that you can read in the Careers Centre - we have comfy seats that you can relax on, or desks to sit at if you prefer. These books are for reference only and not part of the University library, so we generally don't lend them out. We do have photocopying facilities, though, if you'd like to make copies to read later. Here are profiles of just a few of the books you can read in one of the Careers Centres:
