The Careers Centre at Staffordshire University has a dedicated team of Careers Advisers, ready and waiting to help you.  You can access their help in a number of ways, as follows:

• book a one-to-one appointment with a Careers Adviser at one of our Careers Centres.  You can have as many appointments as you need and can discuss anything careers-related.

• book a mock interview to practice your interview technique ready for the 'real thing'

• attend one of our CV Clinics to get your CV checked

• come to a Careers workshop on subjects like job hunting, making applications and interviews

• meet employers at one of our JobZone workshops, fairs or networking events

• meet us in your Faculty - look out for Careers on Tour

• use our JobShop to find part-time or vacation work

You don't need to know what you want to do

In the feedback we gather from our clients a popular misconception that students and graduates have is that you need to know what you want to do before you see a Careers Adviser.  That's not true at all.  Our Advisers can coach you through the whole process of planning your future, from looking at what you're good at and what you like to making applications and preparing for interviews.

A Careers Adviser can:

• coach you through the process of planning your future

• help you to research and decide on which career areas you might want to pursue

• make effective decisions, based on accurate information, about routes into careers and the current labour market

• create an amazing CV

• look for jobs

• guide you through filling in application forms

• practice your interview technique by role playing an interview with you

• show you how to prepare for assessment centre and psychometric testing

• discuss further study with you

• get you started if you want to work or study overseas

• and loads more . . .

Arranging to see a Careers Adviser

We have two Careers Centres, one on the Stoke Campus and one at Stafford - see addresses and location maps below.  You can arrange to see a Careers Adviser by:

• 'phoning one of the Centres - Stoke 01782 294991, Stafford 01785 353233

• dropping us an email at careers@staffs.ac.uk

• calling into one of the Careers Centres and speaking to our friendly Information Team.

We operate a booking system, which means that you won't usually be able to see somebody straight away, but we aim to fit you in as soon as we possibly can.  We offer appointments most days, between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

We also have a Quick Query Desk at the Stoke Careers Centre.  This is available, during term time, most afternoons between 1 - 3pm.  No need to book an appointment - just walk in for a quick 10-15min chat with a Careers Adviser.

Careers Centre Locations

The Careers Centre on the Stoke campus is in room B6 on the ground floor of the Cadman Building (you might know it as the Thompson Library), on College Road

The Careers Centre on the Stafford campus is on the ground floor of the Beacon Building, next to Dolce Vita, the Student's Union and the main reception.
