Special Educational Needs and Disability
The Special Educational Needs and Disability Act (2001) received royal ascent on 11 May 2001. The original copy of the text is available at:
The act has two main parts. The first part relates to the special educational needs and aims to amend the Education Act (1996). The second part aims to amend the Part IV (Education) of the Disability Discrimination Act (1995). This second part covers all levels of education. For accessibility purposes, the second part of the act was put at:
http://www.student.city.ac.uk/~cx639/senda2.htm
as the first version. The rationale for covering only the second part is the fact that it covers the discrimination against disabled students in further and higher education (as well as in schools). The further versions would include a thorough check of the text and brief annotations to the act in the due course. As a further task, follow-up materials such as statutory instruments and code of practices would be included.
