Short Course in Practical Techniques in Molecular Biology: ‘From Genome to Gene’
This 1 week short course is CPD accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
The combination of theoretical and practical aspect provides a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and key techniques in molecular biology.
The School has dedicated facilities including a state-of-the-art Human Sciences laboratory where practical sessions will take place.
Practical components will include:
Isolation of genomic DNA
Restriction of DNA
Ligation into vectors
Construction of a gene library using expression and colony hybridisation
Large and small scale plasmid preparation
Automated DNA sequencing
