Workplace learning

Take the opportunity to complete a work placement on every course

Do you want to learn about games development and technical games programming?

Our courses are suited to those who aspire to work in all areas of games programming, including AAA studios, indie games studios and mobile games development. They are also good preparation for a career as a software developer in the wider computing industry.

BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming will give you experience programming with cutting edge low-level APIs such as DirectX and OpenGL, as well as hands-on experience with industry hardware such as the Sony Playstation 4. This popular low-level award aims to produce graduates with cutting edge skills. Graduates have gone on to work for Rockstar Games, Ubisoft, Codemasters and many other world-class games studios.

BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development focuses on programming using existing industry standard games engines such as Unity and the UDK. You will learn how to program at a professional level and will get a wealth of experience using the same systems that many games companies use to develop games for a range of platforms such as PC, PS4 and mobile.

As members of the PlayStation® First Academic Program run by Sony, we have access to professional development hardware and software tools. Using industry standard games engines such as UDK and Unity, you’ll gain experience in developing games from an initial concept to finished product. You will then pitch your games to commercial studios such as Playground Games, Team 17 and Media Molecule.
