What it's about

Midwives are autonomous practitioners and recognised experts in normal childbirth.
Pregnancy and birth are normal life events for most women and midwives work in partnership with women and their families to enable them to have a safe and satisfying experience of childbirth.
What you do
The course will provide you with a broad knowledge base relating to midwifery theory and biological sciences, together with the application of related sciences, sociology, psychology, philosophy, ethics, law and spirituality to midwifery practice.
Extensive practical experience provides you with the opportunity to develop as a clinician, integrate theory and practice and provide evidenced-based care.
Where next?
On successful completion of the degree programme you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a midwife and to apply for midwifery posts within local or national NHS Trusts, HM Armed Forces or to practise independently.
