What it's about

You will develop practical accounting skills and learn to produce financial accounts and interpret financial statements. You will also acquire the necessary skills for the interpretation of economic issues management and financial decision-making in a modern business context.

What you do

At Level 1 you’ll study a range of topics designed to provide appropriate skills including Financial Accounting, Market Economics 1 and 2, Economics, Business Law, Business Skills and Financial Services. Level 1 provides a framework that you will build upon at Level 2. There are also option modules that enable you to broaden the scope of your experience.

At Level 2 your studies will include Intermediate Financial Accounting, Management Accounting Techniques, Applied Accounting Software (Sage software), Business Economics and Econometrics. Again, there are option modules, which enable you to broaden the scope of your experience.

Between Levels 2 and 3, there is an opportunity to undertake a year on work placement. The placement allows you to develop your skills and gain valuable practical experience within a working environment. This type of experience is highly regarded by employers and will give you a significant competitive advantage in securing the job of your choice upon graduation.
We have close contact with many high profile companies and we provide support to help you obtain a work placement that is right for you.

At Level 3 you will develop advanced skills in areas of study including Economic Policy, Strategic Management Accounting, Accounting Theory and Practice and Financial Decision-Making. You will also develop Research Methods and Data Analysis skills in preparation for an independent research project. In addition, option choices will enable you to tailor your degree to suit your interests.
