What it’s about
Graduates who have managerial skills as well as theoretical knowledge of business and management, are becoming more sought after by employers. This business degree is designed to help you achieve this advantage. It also makes sure that you look at all the areas of business together, combining for instance, human resources, finance and marketing. Many traditional degrees look at all these areas separately.
What you do
The first year modules cover some of the main areas of business – the business environment, the legal environment of business, people and marketing issues and business skills.
At Levels 2 and 3 the award continues to give you a thorough understanding of all areas of business but, more importantly, it develops your ability to apply this knowledge in practical situations.
There is a distinctive management theme running through the course with modules, for example, on Business Project Management, Contemporary Management Issues, Managing and Leading Change, and Enterprising Management. A key part of the course is the constant development of the skills you will need to succeed, such as presenting and communicating your ideas and findings, working with and coordinating groups, using IT, dealing with difficult issues and situations and solving problems.
Where next
This course offers a wide range of potential career options in general management or, depending on your module choices, a particular area of business where your all round knowledge will also be appreciated. It is also suitable if you would like to go on to obtain a professional qualification within a specific business area, such as marketing or finance. Graduates wishing to pursue a career in teaching, will also find the course offers an ideal basis for entry into the profession.
