What it's about

Visual storytelling has been with us since we were painting on walls in caves and right now a whole wave of comic hero’s are on our TV, computers, newspapers and in cinemas
around the world.
This new degree programme reflects the diversity and rich history that exists in the UK and abroad of visual storytelling; the importance of drawing and visualising the narrative, innovation and creativity has assured the widening acceptance and intellectual credibility of this art form. Comics, cartoons and graphic novels today are thriving and not only in specialist outlets but also via other channels (e.g. independent publishers and small press, cartoon strips in newspapers and magazines, new English language Manga, multimedia, moving image, animation, web and games design.
What you do
Students studying on BA Hons Cartoon and Comic Arts will work towards a professional portfolio of work demonstrating their understanding of these many and varied opportunities
to develop both specific skills and easily transferable skills.
Where next
Successful completion of this course will enable future employment as freelance cartoonists, illustrators for magazines or newspapers, storyboard artists within film, games design, animation or the advertising industry.
