What its about
The course represents a distance learning route to a Certificate of Higher Education in the area of Applied Computing. There is no attendance requirement at the University with contact with tutors via email/Skype and our virtual learning environment.
By applied we mean the study of computing applied in a business context. The course provides both breadth and depth over a range of computing topics. The course can act as a staging post to further study towards a degree.
Assessment for each module is via coursework, which may include online tests where appropriate.

CED55500-4 Structured Systems Analysis and Design Techniques (15 credits)
CED55100-4 Fundamentals of Computer Networks (15 credits)
CED65007-4 Quantitative Tools for Computing (15 credits)
CE51001-4 Negotiated Studies * (Award Option) (15 credits)
* The Award Option module allows flexibility to offer a module which is selected from the portfolio of modules we offer at Level 4. Applicants without Grade C GCSE Maths, or equivalent, will be advised to take CED65005-4 Elementary Quantitative Methods.

Who is the course aimed at?
The course is ideal for people with exposure to an information technology (IT) environment (that just about covers everybody!) and who wish to study by distance learning for a higher education qualification initially at certificate level.
