Community Arts in a Global Perspective
Certificate of Credit
What it's about
Community Arts in Global Perspective explores the impact that community and participatory arts have had on the way arts and culture have developed across the world. It also examines the role that the arts have played in many countries in times of political and social change. From Fiesta in Spain, to Carnival in Rio, from South Africa during Apartheid to Northern Ireland during the Troubles; community arts has developed both as a way of describing community cultural activity as well as a way of providing a vehicle for social action. This course aims to give you an insight into the role that the arts have played in giving voice to communities across the world.
The course is designed for anyone with an interest in cultural development but would be of particular interest to those interested in global issues and the lessons for practice in the British context.
