What it’s about
This course will provide you with the skills to use computer-based systems to solve business problems and support business processes. You will also gain a sound knowledge of business areas such as finance, law and business resource management and learn how to design and use some of the latest computer-based business systems.
What you do
Putting together your business and computing knowledge will allow you to use computers to meet the needs of business in a variety of work situations.
The first year of the course introduces you to a variety of IT aspects including analysis, design and development of systems, website publishing and hardware and network elements.
The second year covers the development of IT systems for business, including legal issues, networking, databases and the web and human computer interaction and usability.
An optional one-year placement period can be integrated into your course, or alternatively, you may choose to undertake a shorter work experience module that develops your ability to apply IT solutions.
In the final year, you will concentrate on the strategic use of IT in business. You will also undertake a major project that applies IT in a business situation. There will be an opportunity to choose from a range of options in order to tailor your studies to your particular interests.

This course will equip you for a career in any of the main areas of business, where you will be able to put your computing skills into practice. Your graduate destination is likely to be within a business area such as finance, marketing or human resources.

| Attendance: | Typically, a full-time student will have 16 hours per week of class contact time. In addition, you will need to spend time reading around the subject, researching topics, and completing assessed work. |
| Entry Requirements: | All applicants are individually assessed on their qualifications, skills and experience. However, a typical three A level or BTEC National Diploma offer will be 240 UCAS tariff points.
