Design Management
MA
The Award offers ‘real-world’ relevance to the subject
The only Design Management postgraduate course available online in the UK
Carefully designed to enable flexible learning at your own pace
What it's about

Design management provides the opportunity to enter the creative industries at a strategic level. The course will enable you to champion creative projects within a business context, nurture creativity and innovation, and develop key skills to build a dynamic culture, which produces effective creative solutions.
The course is designed for those who wish to work within the creative industries but who would also like to acquire the skills and knowledge which will help them develop their careers as creative project managers or to help them become more effective designers. This course responds to the recommendations of the Cox report (2005) by promoting understanding, awareness and knowledge of the industry whilst encouraging creativity, innovation and ambition. All of which contribute to an ‘enterprise culture’.
What you do
The Award provides an opportunity for you to consider how design is managed in the context of different organisations. You will consider how design relates to other business functions like marketing, finance and production, particularly in the new product development process. You will learn how organisational structure, culture and strategy can encourage design. Modules offered, include: marketing, creativity and innovation, research methods and design futures. The final major project offers you the opportunity to select a topic based on personal interest or career aspirations which is negotiated between you and your tutor.
Where next?

On completion of the MA Award, graduates could enter managerial roles in communication, product, multimedia, fashion and environmental design, as well as advertising, branding and marketing.
