What it's about

The award is available at Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters. All study is at Masters level and usually forms years one, two and three of a part-time Masters course.

All the awards are designed to help you with your day-to-day work teaching, supporting other teachers in improving their work and leading and managing in schools, colleges, community settings, workplaces, local authorities and other education settings.

This award focuses on learning and assessment practice and provides a route for the professional development of teachers, and will enable teachers to discuss, develop and extend their pedagogic practice.

What you do

Our guiding principle is to place learning in the workplace at the heart of the programme. This means that what you learn in the workplace is just as important as the formal study you undertake with us. We work closely with employers to ensure that the programme is relevant and responsive to the complex demands of education contexts.

We value the knowledge that you have already gained through your prior experience and you are encouraged to contribute your ideas and experiences in taught sessions.

Modules include: Mentoring and Coaching; Inter-professional Working and specialist modules in Learning and Assessmenet. For the final Masters stage, everyone does a Research Methods module and a Dissertation.

Once you have your Masters degree, you will have the opportunity to progress to our PhD and EdD awards, Doctoral level programmes aimed at helping you develop your capabilities even further.
