BA(Hons), Two Year Degree
UCAS code: Q320

What it's about

The BA single honours English Accelerated degree provides you with the opportunity to complete a FULL Honours degree over two years rather than three. It’s done by using the summer vacation periods as a third term. This enables students who are committed to an intensive, accelerated learning programme to gain a year on their peers or recover a gap year or to change career direction quickly.

What you do

Women reading

Level 4 is studied normally on-campus alongside students on the three year degree. Core compulsory modules provide an introduction to studying Literature at degree level and to basic skills in reading, writing and literary analysis. Level 5 is when you begin to accelerate your studies. During the summer of your first year you will acquire credits from modules studied substantially on-line, with some initial class contact (and e-mail tutorial contact thereafter). At the end of September you will return to on-campus classes and subject lectures with the rest of your year-group. Level 6 will for you begin in January and you will join the cohort ahead of you and study four modules. Two summer terms are delivered mostly through web-based distance-learning so that you can choose where you wish to study here in Stoke-on-Trent or from your home area or elsewhere.

Where next?

Our English graduates develop the kind of critical and creative intelligence all employers value highly. They take up careers in journalism, teaching, personnel management, social work, the Civil Service, the media and many other professions.

Whilst course fees are the same as for the three year degree, it does means that living costs can be lower by a third and you can get into the career market and start earning much sooner.
