The Events Management award has been formally accredited by the Tourism Management Institute (TMI).

There is the added flexibility of transferring between Events and Tourism Management, and the wider suite of Business and Management programmes.

What it’s about
Within the dynamic and growing events industry there is a demand for suitably qualified graduates who have the ability to plan and manage events. Events range from major events such as the Olympic Games to arts, cultural, sporting, entertainment, business and trade events, exhibitions and conferences. This course provides an integrated and comprehensive overview of many aspects of events management, together with specialist knowledge and skills required for success in events management employment.
What you do
Students study modules in Tourism and Events Dynamics, Events Industry, Business Tourism, Legal and Contractual Issues for Events, Managing the Events Workforce, Applied Technology for Events, Managing the Events Service Encounter, Conceptualising Events and Marketing Intelligence, Planning and Staging Events, Managing Events Communications, Sustainable Tourism and Events, Tourist Destinations.
Included in the course are tourism and events related visits and a residential to enable students to engage with the industry through the Tourism and Events in Practice module. During the final year of the course students have the opportunity to work with a group of students to develop, plan and run a live event.
The course is also designed to develop a range of practical and employability skills such as communication, applying technology, creativity, decision-making, problem solving and critical reasoning. These skills are developed through assignments, examinations, in-class and independent learning activities. Learning is through lectures, seminars, case studies, group projects, presentations and a practical events management project. This will further enhance your management skills.
Between the second and third year of study there is an opportunity to take an accredited placement in an event or events related work environment. This will give students a significant advantage when applying for work after graduation. Support is provided to help students find a suitable placement.

Graduates in events management will have the skills and knowledge necessary for employment in tourism, events management and other service organisations both in the public and private sector in the UK and overseas.
