What it’s about
This course allows you to build on your HND or Foundation Degree in Media Production to a BSc(Hons) Film Production Technology. The course consists of 4 modules of level 2 and all the final year of the standard BSc(Hons) Film Production Technology.
The award combines the study of digital video production and interactivity in a number of different fields, including television, cinema, video and the Internet. The course is extremely practical and will equip you for employment in a creative, technical or administrative capacity in the entertainment industry, or more generally in employment requiring an understanding of multimedia and new technologies.
What you do
You will study a mixture of level 5 and level 6 modules over the first academic year which lead to an ordinary degree in Film Production Technology. You will then have one additional module and the Final Year Project to complete which leads to the BSc(Hons) Film Production Technology.
You will study digital filming, digitisation, compression, digital processing, video and sound processing, 3D scene creation, studio technology and multimedia authoring. Students use industry standard, non-linear Avid editing packages and post-production software that includes Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. There is an opportunity to study writing for the screen across all levels.
Where next
The course will equip you with a broad skills base, technical knowledge and practical creative skills that bridge the gap between technical specialists and creative professionals. With the background knowledge of technology and business you will be equipped to join video, television and film production companies in many roles, start your own business or contribute in various capacities to any technologically-based industry.
