"You meet a wide range of people and gain insights in the study of history" Dean Hall
What it's about

Our International History joint programme was developed in response to an increased interest in international events : from Cold War transformation and environmental politics to conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan together with an awareness of the global community in which we now exist.
Drawing on a framework of the development of the global system, this award utilises the expertise of staff in the subject areas of modern history, politics and international relations. Staff teaching and research interests include the Third Reich, propaganda, modern Italy, politics of South Asia, international migration, politics of the world economy, international organisations and issues concerning war, peace and terrorism.
Staff teaching on this award also deliver an MA in International Relations, and an MA in International Policy and Diplomacy, both of which include international history options.
How does a joint honours award work?
You may study two main subjects or areas, leading to a joint honours award. The award includes two equally weighed subjects, e.g. BA(Hons) Modern History and English. Alternatively you can study one subject as a major and one as a minor, e.g. BA(Hons) Film Studies with Sociology, where Film Studies makes up approximately two thirds of your programme of study.
Initially, you simply select the award code for the two subjects, and follow a joint honours programme. You don't need to choose a major until the end of Level 4 (or, on some awards, Level 5) (Note: Legal Studies can only be studied as a minor subject). Choosing to study a joint award gives you the freedom to broaden your knowledge base and offers you space to choose the subject you wish to concentrate on. Studying more than one subject for your degree means you don't necessarily have to specialise - you can keep your options open career wise and gain more skills.
