What it's about

Many people have essential commitments during the day which prevent them considering full-time study.  As part of Staffordshire Law School's commitment to ensuring the widest possible access to legal education we offer a part-time Law degree (LLB) which can be studied in the evening.

Essentially, this course offers a four-year route to an honours degree at the rate of three modules per year.  It is also possible to take the course over 5 or 6 years.  The part-time LLB includes all the core modules required to obtain a Qualifying Law Degree for the purposes of undertaking further study to become a barrister or a solicitor.  The Law School has been successfully running Law degree courses in the evening for many years and has developed a variety of innovative delivery methods specifically designed for the needs of part-time students to enable them fully to realise their potential.

What you do

A variety of different approaches to teaching and learning are used on the part-time evening degree.  Students will experience traditional lectures and tutorials but will also learn by using study plans and similar strategies to support independent study.  The use of IT (especially the Internet) to support teaching is a feature of the course.

On the four-year route you will study 90 credits of Law modules each year including: English Legal System, Contract, Constitutional Law, Tort, Land Law, European Community Law, Equity and Criminal Law.  The 5 and 6 year routes allow you to study few credits each year.

Where Next?

Hundreds of students have graduated from our part-time Law degree course over the years.  Many have become solicitors and barristers whilst others have embarked successfully on a wide variety of non-legal careers.  Some of our own teaching staff in the Law School are graduates from the part-time evening degree.
