What it's about
This award provides an innovative combination of professional and academic study leading to qualification from both Staffordshire University and The Chartered Management Institute. The award is designed to be of interest to practicing managers who want to improve their performance as managers and to expand their business knowledge. Individual discussion and feedback with an independent performance assessor is an important part of this process and a unique feature of this award. This complements the development of transferable knowledge and understanding in the disciplines of business and management. This award is designed to appeal to the experienced manager, where qualification would support further progression.
What you do
To enable the experienced manager to demonstrate professional standing and to gain recognised qualification. The award provides a direct entry route into postgraduate study on the basis of accountable experience as a manager. The Certificate develops appraisal of performance and understanding in two selected areas of personal practice and introduces study of marketing and accounting to increase functional understanding.

Where next?
Success on the Certificate award gives entry to the second year of the postgraduate business awards, most particularly to the second year of the Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) and MBA.
