What it’s about
The current business environment is strongly orientated towards well-trained and effective marketing personnel. The BA(Hons) Marketing Management award, was created as a result of the demand from employers for graduates with practical marketing skills, underpinned by an understanding of the wider business framework, whether in the context of commercial, industrial, professional or public sector organisations. The course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to give you a head start in your career in marketing and is supported by a large group of specialist marketing and business tutors with strong links to The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
What you do
In the first year of the award, you will study the wider business and legal environment, the role of marketing within that environment and how various aspects of an organisation come together to serve the market.
In the second year, the emphasis starts to shift towards more specialist study of marketing and how marketing specialists add value to the organisation through the understanding of customers. Modules focus on the practice of marketing and include Consumer Behaviour and Business-to-Business Marketing.
The third year of the award is highly focused on marketing, covering key areas such as marketing research, brand management, marketing communications, international marketing and strategic marketing management. Students will also produce a project following an independent investigation in to a specialist area of marketing of their choice. In addition, as you progress through the course, you will acquire a range of business and marketing-specific skills valued by employers, supported by a balanced mix of teaching methods and a variety of assessment approaches. We enjoy close links to The Chartered Institute of Marketing and have a local branch of the CIM Student Chapter on-site, bringing students into contact with marketing professionals. The degree is one of the few in the country accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing for postgraduate entry.
