What our students say
"As an experienced Manager I was uncertain as to what I would learn from an MBA course, but felt it essential to undertake this as part of my ongoing career development.
The wide exposure to areas such as marketing, economics, both operational management and global business issues, in addition to the grass roots of HR/Financial Management I was already experienced in, generated both challenge and great personal growth and development.
Achieving the MBA at Staffordshire University was fundamental to my gaining the position I now hold."
What it's about
The globally recognised MBA award is intended primarily for those with business ability experience and graduate level skills, who want to take their career to greater heights. This part-time award attracts a range of graduate calibre middle to senior managers from a variety of commercial and industrial firms and public sector organisations. They experience a challenging and stimulating course in general management, with an international perspective, as a stepping off point for the next stage of their personal and career development.
What you do
The broad aim of the MBA is to provide you with a thorough grounding in the principles of management and in the main functional areas of business. Thus in the first year of the course you will study the four integral functions of management, Marketing, Accounts, Human Resource Management and Operations management. These core modules are then followed in the second year by their integration through the application of strategic management principles to corporate achievement. This is coupled, in your final semester, with the chance to explore a broad choice of topic options. In the final year, you will be able to develop and investigate a special area of knowledge within a field of your choice for your dissertation. We also aim to use the breadth of experience reflected within the cohort of your fellow students to support and encourage personal growth and capability by widening your own horizons. In part, this is achieved through mixed class discussions, group work and attending residentials.
