MSc, Postgraduate Certificate (PgC), Postgraduate Diploma (PgD)

Whats its about

This MSc qualification is a computing post graduate qualification that has a distinctive flavour relevant to mobile computing specifically for students who do not hold a first degree in a computing related subject. The award aims to develop knowledge and practical skills appropriate for migrating business and industrial systems into mobile computing infrastructures. To do this a major focus of the award is technically based in order that students can implement concepts and theories taught. Study topics will include those such as communications, design of mobile architecture, network infrastructures, standards and protocols, mobile programming tools and environments, and associated management issues. These subjects will be complemented with modules that give a business computing flavour.

What you do

The award is divided into three learning stages, firstly a PgC stage that consists of four compulsory modules that instil fundamental areas of computing, secondly a PgD stage where you specialise in two mobile computing modules and can choose an option. You also have the option to undertake paid employment for a year after the PgC stage and before the dissertation. The final stage of the award is the dissertation, where you can choose the mobile computing based topic to pursue related to your own interest.
