What it's about

MSc Multimedia takes graduates from Computing related disciplines into postgraduate studies.  By studying the award as a student you will be given the opportunity to build on your undergraduate knowledge learning further leading edge technologies used within the context of industry / commerce, and develop research perspectives relevant to multimedia. The award aims to address the increasing market demand for graduates with multimedia skills and knowledge appropriate for designing and developing applications for business and industry. Consequently your employment potential when you graduate from this award is high.

What you do

The award covers topics such as: media editing and multimedia applications, mobile web and multimedia, advanced multimedia systems, enterprise database systems, multimedia research topics, research methods, and the opportunity to select module choices from a list of available. In the PgC stage you study three cores and an option. For the PgD three multimedia based topics and an option. You may also go on placement after completing the PgC.  This period is particularly valuable if you wish to enhance your skills in a working environment.  Frequently the work in industry drives the focus the student has in the dissertation.  At the end of your award you study for your dissertation on a multimedia based topic.

Entry Requirements:

Normal requirements are at least a UK second class honours degree or equivalent in a related computing discipline

If you do not meet the above but have significant appropriate experience, your application will be considered, provided that you satisfy the University that you are capable of responding to the challenge of postgraduate work. 

If your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate that you are fluent enough to cope with the course. A minimum score of IELTS 6 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based) is normally required.
