What its about
The MSc in Network Computing is a postgraduate qualification that provides specialist study of Computer Networks, particularly related to the application and deployment of such networks. By studying the award as a student you will be given the opportunity to build on your undergraduate knowledge and learn about further leading edge technologies used within the context of industry/commerce and develop research perspectives relevant to computer networks. The award covers topics such as: Routing, Switching, Troubleshooting, Security, Wireless LANs, Quality of Service, Network Computing research topics, Research Methods and the opportunity to select module choices from a list of available options. Some of these topics utilise Cisco networking equipment and utalise support material provided by Cisco Systems Inc.
What you do
In your first study stage, the PgC, you will study five modules - a mix of award cores and networking options. In the second stage the PgD you will study a further four modules. On finishing the PgC and before starting the dissertation you have the opportunity to undertake a work placement of 12 months. You will finish your award by completing a dissertation on a network related topic.

| Entry Requirements: | Normal requirements are at least a UK second class honours degree or equivalent in a computing discipline.
If you do not meet the above but have significant appropriate experience, your application will be considered, provided that you satisfy the University that you are capable of responding to the challenge of postgraduate work. If your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate that you are fluent enough to copy with the course. A minimum score of IELTS 6 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based) is normally required. |
