What it's about

  • Developing a knowledge of the pharmacology of the central nervous system

  • ntroduction to the brains internal environment with a consideration of role of neurotransmitters (Acetylcholine, Norepinephrine, GABA, Dopamine, Peptides and Serotonin), at the pathway, synapse and drug interaction levels.

  • To study the nature and action of neuropharmacological agents in conditions such as epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression and pain

Attendance:

The module will run at Blackheath Lane, Stafford (or at alternative sites according to student demand), in patterns that best suit the enrolled students. The first session will be 09.00am- 4.00pm. Subsequent session timings will be negotiated during enrolment but previous cohorts have negotiated group tutorials in teaching weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of a term

Entry Requirements:

3 years relevant experience as assessed by interview OR recognised National body current registration OR any 1st degree or equivalent OR relevant A levels or equivalent (Biology, Chemistry, Combines Science, Psychology, Sport Sciences)
