The Faculty has dedicated facilities including a state-of-the-art Human Sciences laboratory where practical sessions will take place.
What It's About
This 1 week predominantly ‘hands-on’ laboratory course has been developed for anyone requiring a sound practical and theoretical knowledge of key techniques in molecular biology, perhaps in support of participants Continued Professional Development.
What You Do
Practical components will include:
Isolation of genomic DNA
Restriction of DNA
Ligation into vectors
Construction of a gene library using expression and colony hybridisation
Large and small scale plasmid preparation
Southern hybridisation
PCR
Automated DNA sequencing
