What you do
The award offers you education and training that integrates practice learning with academic learning in the University. At Level 1, there are taught modules in Law for Social Work, Social Work Skills, Social Work Values and Methods, Social Policy, the Social Context of Social Work and communication skills. You will also shadow an experienced practitioner.
At Level 2, you will study modules that focus on working with children and families, with adults in community care settings and Lifespan development. You will also take a 90-day assessed period of practice learning on a rewarding vocational placement.
Level 3 will offer modules on research mindedness interprofessional practice. You will be required to complete a dissertation and also take the second period of assessed practice learning. (110 days).
Where next
The degree in Social Work prepares you for a career in the personal social services or more general health and social welfare settings. Employment in fieldwork, day care and residential settings are all possible. This qualification will also be suitable for those who wish to work in statutory, voluntary and independent services.
