Strategic Human Resource Management
MA
What it's about
The course aims to provide experienced practitioners who are MCIPD qualified with a challenging programme that develops their strategic competence. GCIPD may be considered in exceptional circumstances
It is intended to provoke and challenge the course participants in their thinking and expectations about how and why we manage people at work.
The programme challenges participants to consider how different HRM approaches may be more effective in achieving corporate success.
What you do
The programme is designed as an extension programme linked to Continuing Professional Development. The programme is research orientated with the dissertation providing the 60 level Masters credits needed to attain the Masters award. An initial induction and then a minimum of three sessions of Business Research Methodology are the only 'fixed' times of attendance.
The dissertation is the essential component of the Masters award. It is a demonstration of the participant's ability to research a topic using both primary and secondary research techniques. Considerable emphasis is placed on the ability of the participant to evaluate critically, to analyse, synthesise and develop a sustainable academic argument in the area of study and to make significant comments on HRM in practice at the strategic level. Each student is supported by a personal tutor who will be knowledgeable in their chosen area of study and will be available for support throughout the research.
