What it’s about

All-terrain buggy design by Transport Design students

You will work in a creative and friendly studio environment on transport and industrial design projects. Access to excellent 3D workshops and CAD modelling facilities, using industry standard software, will enable you to present your work to a professional standard. We also run a range of student visits both cultural and industrial in nature.

We aim to equip you with a broad range of transferable and specialist skills working on both interior and exterior proposals for land, sea and air transportation.

What you do

At Level 4 you will be introduced to core skills through structured and practical design projects, involving idea generation, drawing and rendering, model making and computer work. The teaching and learning techniques are varied and include individual and group design work, tutorials, seminars and presentations. You will also have important technical and CAD input from the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology throughout your course.
Level 5 students will study in greater detail aspects such as concept generation, ergonomics and usability, materials and manufacture and aesthetics.

In the third year you are able to complete a substantial self-selected project. This flexibility gives you the means to indulge in truly original and innovative thinking. You will have the opportunity to enter national design competitions and exhibit to the public and potential employers at the end of year Degree Show and at ‘New Designers’ in London. There are opportunities for placement work in the vacations, or by taking a year out.
