Undergraduate Framework Award - Computing (Stoke)
Certificate in Continuous Professional Development
Key features
- flexible - study up to 3 modules per semester
- up-to-date - learn the latest technologies
- available either with attendance or via distance learning
- excellent for CPD, or just to learn new skills
What it's about
The Undergraduate Framework Award - Computing (Stoke) is designed for those who just wish to study one or more individual modules.
This may be because of a wish to develop in a particular area, either personally or through work-based CPD, or it may be as a taster prior to starting a full-time degree.
A Certificate in Continuous Professional Development is awarded on completion of two modules, and a Diploma in Continuous Professional Development is awarded after a further two modules (4 in total) are completed. If you were to continue your studies on one of our degree courses, the modules studied here could well contribute to your overall CATS point total.
The modules are designed to be stand-alone, and fit the need of a skills update for applicants in the workplace. Modules are available at Basic Level 4, which represents 1st year University Degree level; Intermediate Level 5 which represents 2nd year University degree level, and finally Advanced Level 6, representing final year University degree level.
The modules at level 4 and Level 5 can form a diet of modules as part of entry onto our online BSc (Hons) Applied Computing top-up degree, or entry onto the University Diploma in Applied Computing (UDAC)
What you do
You can study one or more modules in a given semester, up to a maximum of 3 per semester. Provided you meet the entry criteria for the module, you can study a module at any level.
If you are studying with attendance, you will need to attend for 3 hours per week, per module.
We have a number of modules available to study with attendance (for a full list, click here), and have recently validated a number of modules that are available via Distance Learning.
Distance Learning modules involve NO attendance at the University. These modules include:
Basic Level 4 Modules
CED55200-4 Publishing for the World Wide Web (using HTML and Coffee Cup editor)
CED55300-4 Introduction to Multimedia
CED55500-4 Structured Systems Analysis and Design (using SSADM v4)
