What it’s about
This course will provide you with an understanding of Information Technology (IT) based systems that aim to improve the service given to users and customers when they seek help. Typically these might be computer supported help desks, call centre systems for example.
What you do
The first year of the course introduces you to a variety of IT aspects including analysis, design and development of systems, website publishing, and hardware and network elements.
The second year develops your knowledge of web/database integration, networking and other IT aspects that affect the development of user support systems.
An optional one-year placement period can be integrated into your course, or alternatively, you may choose to undertake a shorter work experience module that develops your ability to apply your knowledge to real user support environments.
In the final year you will concentrate on user support systems as a strategic resource. You will also undertake a major project that relates to user support systems. There will be an opportunity to choose from a range of options in order to tailor your studies to your particular interest.
