What it’s about
The web is used as a tool for business and enterprise. Students who study this award will look at both web development and business/enterprise and the way these interact together in e-marketing and e-commerce.
What you do
At Level 1 and Level 2 you will gain a good foundation in computing, and study website design and development using current languages such as ASP.NET and PHP. This degree is ideal if you want to start your own web design and development company as you will develop web media, and cover areas such as business and management, e-marketing and e-commerce. Options will allow students to look into other areas of web development or business, or look at other areas of computing such as multimedia, security or networks.
Level 3 will expand on the areas covered previously and also cover areas including project management and web standards. You will learn to understand the needs of a client and be able to plan and develop web projects. Options will allow you to further the skills you gained at Level 1 and 2. The final year project will allow you to demonstrate the skills you have developed over your course.
Where next
In choosing this award you will be able to develop web solutions to business problems as well as identifying areas that can help a business to leverage performance from web technologies. Job titles include Web Entrepreneur, Web Project Manager and Web Developer.
