Service Standards

In order that we can provide you an effective service we ask that you:

  • Respond to any correspondence as quickly as possible, this will help to reduce any delays in the Assessment Process.

  • Let us know in good time if you are unable to attend an appointment that you have booked; we may be able to make that place available to another student.

  • Let us know if you do not think we have provided you with enough information or have any other suggestions about the service that we can offer.

  • Understand that the support recommended in the report is only a series of recommendations to your funding authority. Although they may have obligation to support you in your studies, they may not agree with all the recommendations.

Staffordshire Regional Access Centre aims to complete all processes in the shortest possible time and within the target times set out for the stages below:

Stage 1

  • On receipt of your request for an Assessment and your confirmation of funding, we will offer you an appointment date within 15 working days of your request and send you written confirmation of this by the next working day.

  • If your needs are particularly complex and dependent on the availability of a suitable Assessor or external Specialist Consultation, there may be a delay in the appointment date we can offer. We will then offer you the earliest available appointment and assist you with a referral to another Assessment Centre should you wish.

  • If we are unable to identify an appropriate Assessor we will help you with a referral to another centre.

Stage 2

  • As soon as your Assessment is completed, the Assessor will write an Assessment Report and send it to the Access Centre, within 5 working days.

  • The Access Centre will perform a quality assurance check on the report within 10 working days of the date of your Assessment.

  • The report will then be sent to you, for you to agree or comment upon as an accurate record of the Assessment.

Stage 3

  • On receipt of your signed and agreed report it will be finalised and sent to your funding authority by the next working day. With your consent, we will send a copy to your University or College to enable them to put your support into place.
