As well as state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll benefit from first-class support and guidance from our resident academics, all to maximise your opportunities for research and experimentation.

Staffordshire University has a long tradition of research and innovation. We work hard at pushing research boundaries and that too with a flexible approach, providing students with optional Full time and Part time research degrees upto MPhil (Master of Philosophy) and PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) levels. At Staffordshire University, you can study to both MPhil (Master of Philosophy) and PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) levels.

A full-time research degree in Staffordshire University expect to invest 2 years studying for an MPhil (full-time) and 3 years for a PhD (full-time). A part-time research degree requires 10 – 15 hours study weekly and takes 3 years or more.

MPhil involves the development of research skills and an extension of existing knowledge. Often leading to an academic career, a PhD requires in-depth investigation and an original contribution to existing knowledge. Both research degrees involve training in research methods, the presentation of a thesis and an oral examination.

Our research students come from all around the world and we have a dedicated team to provide full support to our International students. Our postgraduate research degree students have several ways to fund their research studies like scholarships and bursaries, loans and charities, graduate teaching and research assistant posts, employer funded studies etc.
