Welcome Week

Welcome Week is exactly what its name suggests… a fantastic, fun-packed time when we welcome each years new students to Staffordshire University. Visit the Students' Union Pages and click on the Purple Welcome Week icon to find out the most up to date information about what exactly is planned for your arrival.

For questions before Welcome Week that are not answered on this site, simply call:

What can I get involved with during Welcome Week?

There’ll be lots of activities going on all week. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, visit the Students' Union website from the beginning of August then click on the purple Welcome Week icon for details of all Welcome Week activities.  Make a note in your diary of the opening times of the lounges and bars. Jot down the details of clubs and societies you might want to join, plus the social activities that make the Welcome semester special.

Who will I meet?

Who will be there to meet me when I arrive on campus?

When you arrive on campus, there will be a team of friendly Welcome Week reps – current students, dressed in purple T-shirts - to help you settle in and find your way around. They’ll help you to have a great time and sort out any problems you might have.

Also, each Faculty has a Faculty Student Guidance Advisor who you should all meet during your induction and who will be around all week and throughout the year.

How will I know?

How will I know who to go to for help and support?

Our comprehensive ‘a2z4u’ guide covers all the services available to you, from where to go for advice and information, to details of the bus service that travels regularly between our Stoke and Stafford campuses.

What about my course?

When will I get a copy of my timetable?
You will receive a copy of your timetable during Welcome Week.  This is when you will choose your module(s) and find out more about the structure of your course.  You may find additional information on your Faculty Induction web page.

How do I learn more about the people who work on my course?
The course you have chosen is managed by an Award Leader in close collaboration with Programme Leaders, Module Leaders and Professional Support Staff. Award Leaders are responsible for the overall award as well as admissions, your induction, timetables, academic welfare and progress.

All awards have level tutors responsible for students studying at that level.  Year 4 tutors have a wide range of responsibilities, along with Professional Support Staff administering your award. Speak to the Faculty Student Guidance Advisors first should you need help with any particular problem.

You will be taught by Module Tutors who have responsibility for the content and delivery of their particular modules.  If necessary, you may also receive support from Technical Staff.  For more information about the staff on your course see your Faculty Induction web page.

How do I get a copy of my Award Handbook?
Every modular award is made up of a set of modules determined in advance by the Award Team and approved by the University's Academic Board. This set of modules is called an Award Structure. You will normally receive an Award Structure on enrolment and this will tell you which modules you will need to study. In order to complete the award for which you have registered,  you must complete the modules specified. Your Award handbook will also have other relevant information that you will need throughout your course. Visit your Faculty Induction Pages, through the link on the Before Arrival page and here you will find copies of all Award Handbooks.
